Dalarna is Sweden's fourth largest tourism region in terms of commercial guest nights. There are about 1 000 companies connected to the tourism industry in Dalarna, which is one of the region's most important core industries.

Our Visitors

Dalarna is a popular destination all year round, with peak seasons in summer and winter. The majority of our Swedish visitors come from the regions around Stockholm, Western Sweden including Gothenburg and the most southern part of Sweden, Skåne.

There is a significant number of international visitors, primarily from our key markets: Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Dalarna aims to be Northern Europe’s leading and most attractive destination by the year 2030 – a clear goal for all stakeholders involved. This is being done by offering welcoming and authentic experiences all year round.

"Strategy 2030" has been developed by industry stakeholders: Dalarna's municipalities, and organizations together with hundreds of representatives from the tourism industry.
