The trail starts with an asphalt-covered stretch of 2 km which has a slight ascent up the south side of Östfjället. The route is adapted for wheelchairs and families with children.
Start and finish place: The trail starts at the Högfjällshotellet in Sälen, on the other side of county road 66. This is part of the Kungsleden. You will return to where you started at Högfjällshotellet.
Length: 9 km, circular loop.

Environment: Calf Mountain. Go through the portal right at road 66, gentle climb up the south side of Östfjället.
You pass Sälen's botanical garden - a real visitor gem in Sälenfjällen - Sweden's highest mountain botanical garden. The garden is run by the non-profit association Sälen's Fjällbotaniska Vänner and today has over 1,800 labeled plants.
The surface is asphalt, suitable for prams and wheelchairs. Asphalt for approx. 2.5 km, benches are available for resting. At the end of the paving, you come to the Köarskärsfjället windbreak where you can enjoy the view. Now the trail continues north on a gravel surface towards Östfjällsstugan, which is beautifully situated by a pond. The trail continues west, after approx. 1 km from Östfjällsstugan the path splits, here you turn south towards Gruven/Högfjället and then arrive at county road 66, on which you can walk approx. 1 km back to where you started at Högfjällshotellet.
Facilities: Östfjällsstugan is a rest house, not overnight. No running water is there. There is an outdoor dry toilet, there is also a outdoor dry toilet at the wind shelter Köarskärfjället which is adapted for wheelchairs. There are no adaptations at Östfjället.
