The Mine Side 7 - Coop

You have now reached stop 7 of "The Mine Side" children's tour. When a new house is being built here in the World Heritage Site, archaeologists must come first. They have an exciting profession. They carefully excavate old objects from the ground and search for traces of humans and animals. They simply learn more about our history.

Right here, underneath Coop, archaeologists found many things: old coins, clay pipes, and tools. They also discovered house foundations related to the mine. Did you know that further down in Elsborg, they found a hat – just like the one Pettson has! And it was over 500 years old! Being an archaeologist is a bit like being a detective and solving mysteries, or trying to piece together a puzzle of how things looked in the past. At Dalarnas Museum and the Mine Museum, you can find many archaeological finds to look at. (Uven: "Seems like an exciting job."
