Welcome to stop 4 of "The Mine Side" children's tour.
This farm is called Dikmanska gården. Once upon a time, there was a slaughterhouse and a sausage factory here. Two brothers, Fredrik and Vilhelm Dikman, moved here from Elsborg where they also made sausages.
Several families lived here, filled with children, maids, and farmhands. And of course, there were lots of cows, calves, pigs, and chickens. It was just like being in the countryside! Luckily, those big gates were there, which could be locked at night to prevent the animals from escaping.
Today, no sausages are made here anymore. The farm has been converted into regular residences.
But the timber walls are still here. Feel them! Those logs must have come from such big trees.
At Erik and Brita's home, they never had sausages. It was a luxury food! No, they had to settle for porridge, dry bread, and salted herring. If you want to know more about Falu sausage, visit the Världsarvshuset. There's a small exhibition about sausages there. You can also buy a ticket for a guided tour inside Falu Gruva.
Uven: The farm was built around the turn of the 19th century – more than 200 years ago.
Shall we continue up to Väderkvarnsbacken?
This city tour is funded by Tillväxtverket.
