Welcome to stop 3 of "The Mine Side" children's tour.
How did people find out what was happening at home and around the world?
Well, they read the newspaper. In this building, they used to produce a paper newspaper that came out almost every day. It was called Falu-Kuriren.
In the beginning, Falu-Kuriren had an incredibly narrow entrance door. If you were a bit large, you could get stuck. So the door had to be replaced with the one you see on the corner today.
Journalists used typewriters to write. Computers hadn't been invented yet. All the words and pictures were printed on special newspaper paper. They had to keep up with the time and work quickly. A new newspaper every morning!
Now Falu-Kuriren is located at Ingarvet, and completely different businesses are here today at Falu Kontorshotell. But take a close look. Can you see the remnants of Falu-Kuriren's letters on the wall above the entrance?
Uven: "Did you know that there is copper in all computers and mobile phones?"
Brita: "Now I don't know what you're talking about. I can't even read. We are only interested in what's happening on our street."
