The Mine Side 17 - Gamla Brandstation

You have now reached stop 17 of the children's tour, The Mine Side. Here we have another house with a beautiful tower! What could it be? It's the Old Fire Station, built in 1911. In the beginning, there were no cars, so horses pulled the fire wagons. The five horses had their own stables, and the hay was stored in the attic.

The families of the firefighters lived in the houses on the courtyard. It was convenient to live close to work because a fire could start at any moment. As soon as there was a fire, the fire brigade rushed out with great speed. Someone blew a trumpet, another rang a bell, and the horses neighed. People naturally gathered to watch it all. Afterwards, the long water hoses were hung up to dry in the tower. The firefighters also practiced smoke diving there. In 1989, everything moved to the new rescue station by Lake Varpan. The old place was almost empty and fell into disrepair. The house was waiting for its people! Nine years later, two photographers bought everything and made it beautiful. Now people work everywhere in the house. Some sit on the haystack, someone sits in the tower, and others in the wagon hall.
