Fulunässoldaten, Sälen

The rest stop with the statue Fulunässoldaten, which was erected in memory of all the men and women who protected and guarded the Norway-Sweden border during World War II. North of the rest stop, significant remains of Sweden's largest and most important defense installation from the war years 1939-1945 can still be found.

The Görälven and Fuluälven rivers merge here to form the Västerdalälven. The Fulunäset Soldier was inaugurated on June 6, 2001, in memory of the thousands of soldiers who guarded our country's border during the preparedness years of 1939–1945. It stands there not as a warrior but as a fighter for peace. The soldier is positioned on the old bridge foundation east of the Fuluälven, gazing toward Norway.
