You have now arrived at the final stop, number 16, of the Children's Tour, "The Fine Side."
Here she sits, Selma Lagerlöf. She became a world-famous figure because she was the first Swedish author to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature.
You might wonder why she is sitting here. Well, she lived in Falun for many years, in different places. Her sister had moved here, and Selma also wanted to live here. Falun attracted many artists.
She is the only author who wrote about the entire World Heritage Falun - without knowing that it would become a world heritage site!
Selma was born at Mårbacka farm in Värmland. She had many siblings, and in the evenings, the whole family would gather and tell stories to each other in the darkness. Selma absorbed everything. She immediately felt that she could see what was invisible to others. What are you particularly good at?
Unfortunately, the house she lived in has been demolished. It was right next to Kopparbergs Church. By the way, the grave of the miner Fet-Mats is located there. You can also have a look at his gravestone when you feel like it.
Fortunately, her library still exists! Dalarna's museum has taken care of it, and you can go there and have a look. Also, see if you can find Bataki, a stuffed raven, which appears in the book "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils" that Selma wrote for all school children in Sweden.
If you want to borrow that book or any other books by Selma Lagerlöf, go over to the library at Fisktorget. They have a lot of books written by Selma Lagerlöf.
Now we're almost done. It was great that you wanted to come along!
"Goodbye! If you want to explore further, there's another tour... THE MINE ONE!"
This city tour is funded by Tillväxtverket.
