You have now arrived at stop 14 of the Children's Tour, "The Fine Side."
Well, hello Ankin! Have you come all the way from Staberg? Are you here to do some shopping or to visit your dad?
Ankin's real name is Anna, and she is the only daughter of the miner Olof Nauclér and his wife Ebba. They live at Stabergs bergsmansgård (Staberg miner's farm) along with their children Ankin and seven sons.
Dad Olof works at Falun Copper Mine and draws maps above and below ground. It's a difficult and important job.
The beautiful house beyond the church on the corner of the square is owned by Stora Enso, the world's oldest company! It was Stora Kopparberget that started it in 1288.
It's unbelievable - such a big company! And it all began here in Falun.
Inside, there are huge halls with beautiful carpets, crystal chandeliers, and royal portraits. The steps leading up to the Bergsmanssalongen (miner's salon) are so small, so small. They would suit elegantly dressed ladies with their long skirts.
Psst! Would you like to see how Ankin and her family lived? Go out to Staberg. You can also meet Korpöga and Smörblomma there. They have their own fun trail out there.
This city tour is funded by Tillväxtverket.
