Are your legs starting to feel tired? In this yellow house, you'll find Sweden's oldest preserved pastry shop. For many locals, it is still known as Hammars konditori, but now it's called Falu Bröd & Patisserie.
"What does "patisserie" mean?"
It's French and it means pastry shop or bakery.
Speaking of pastries. When the Falun World Heritage Site turned 20 in 2022, they wondered if the pastry shops in Falun would like to create a special World Heritage pastry. They did. Each pastry shop chose its own shape and flavor for the pastry. You can recognize it by the small flag that says "Världsarvet Falun" (World Heritage Falun). They are absolutely delicious! Which one will you choose?
At one point, many politicians wanted to demolish the house. They thought it was in the way of the bus traffic. Thankfully, it didn't happen. The county governor spoke up. "You just can't do that!" she said and pounded her fist on the table. What a stroke of luck.
"I can't decide! They all look equally delicious."
